Ok, so my first assignment for an independent study focused on background painting for animation was to pick five scenes from the samurai classic "Ran" and do some quick Photoshop paintings. Here they are:

I didn't post a lot over my winter break, but I did thumbnail out what I hope will be my entire final project/senior thesis (it took me a lot longer than I thought it would, even with itty bitty sketches). The project is called "Amphora", and I'll probably post on it a lot over the next year and a half or so. Anyway, I wanted to get a first round of storyboards done to include it with my "junior year" portfolio. I plan to clean it up in Photoshop later, but here are the thumbnails.
