So... I have to do a bunch of paintings from my Billy Goats Gruff project including for views of the bridge since it is the main location in the story. Here is the first of those views!

New Background! Troll Bridge!

I originally started this painting with the intention of putting a troll (I watched Troll Hunter last week) in it. Unfortunately I had to finish it up sans troll so I had something done for my background painting study. I think I may go back and add the bridge's inhabitant later though...

Finna' Animate

This is a background painting for my special effects animation in Animation 2. It is also a scene for my senior thesis, Amphora, and could potentially be my first completed artwork for the final piece! Well, I guess I'm not totally sure about that, but I liked how it turned out and wanted to share...

A Little Practice by way of Disney's Aladdin

For my independent study in background painting my assignment this week was to pick a background from Aladdin and copy it. We were focusing on stoney texture.

These are my second assignment for my background painting independent study, they are sample backgrounds from what I hope will be my senior thesis piece, "Amphora". Oddly enough, two of the backgrounds may never appear in the piece as I am cutting it down. Still, they were great practice.

"Ran" Backgrounds

Ok, so my first assignment for an independent study focused on background painting for animation was to pick five scenes from the samurai classic "Ran" and do some quick Photoshop paintings. Here they are:

Bog's Room 2: with characters

This is the finished piece from the same project, we had to work in a group to come up with a movie idea- plot, characters and some beat boards to show characters interacting in their environment. Mine includes an angry Bog, Cammie (my group's main character) and her companion, Oote, the owl.

B/W Concept for Greenhorns

I worked in the computer labs for a long time today and didn't get a whole lot to show for it ... other than this, a black and white concept piece showing the environment for my animation short about the two hunters. Im pretty happy with it and hope it will get me going in the right direction!
