"Kaku" - I guess it means "antler" in Japanese

This was my "storyboarding" class final. I won some and lost some on this project, but I wanted to show it to you anyway. Enjoy (maybe)!

In The Show - "My Deer" and "The Reader" (redux)

Just found out I got two drawings in the end-of-year student art show juried by CCAD faculty. Pretty cool!

The first piece, "My Deer" is my final for Drawing class and has not yet been on the blog:

The second has already made an appearance, "The Reader":

Self Portrait

This is my final for painting class (not even turned in yet!) and it is probably the first thing I've done of me that actually looks something like me (accept the eyes, they have a sort of anime creepiness going on). It was done in acrylic paint on masonite, roughly 24" x 18".

Reader at a Lamp

Another figure drawing post which means another nude! But this one is fairly understated at least. Did it with pen and inkwash in a roughly two-hour class session.

Save Polar Bears

This animatic is the most recent project from my storyboarding class. We had to create a public service announcement.

The Fenrirs

This series was done for my painting and color theory class. They're all about simultaneous contrast. The subject matter is the legend of Fenrir from Norse Mythology. Each one depicts a different scene in his legend. (Also, if anyone digs Fenrir, go to Aymrc in my blog roll. The guys is a French animator who did an amazing short piece about Fenris (same as Fenrir).) Enjoy.

Master Copy

This was an assignment for my figure drawing class. It is a copy of a chalk drawing by Pierre-Paul Brud-hon. This includes my "cheat sheet" with all the little measurements and the original drawing, my full drawing and some details.

First Motiony Thingy

This animatic is my very first. Did it for my Time-Based Media class. We got the subject matter/dialogue from our teacher (who got it from a book). I did the drawings, editing, added music, etc. Everything was done on Final Cut Pro. Exciting....

Miscellaneous sketchbookery and, yes, another naked man

A doodle, another mis-representation of my wife (but not as bad as last time!) and the full monty (from drawing class):

The Reader and the Woman Lying Down

Sorry so many nudes, but the anatomy drawing class produces a lot of the better "blog-able" drawings. So here are two more.

Person Painting

This was an in-class oil painting of a figure on a couch. Pic is a little off, it was taken with my phone - which is probably bad blog management...

Circus Poster

This is a semi-quick sketch of a poster that will accompany a design class project. Done with pen and marker.

More Nudity

Some more model drawing from class on Thursday. Some gestures and a 30-minute pose:

Just Catching Up - Still Life w/ Skull

This was our final in-class project in my first-semester painting class. It's done in oil. The pics include the set up has well a bit of "the process". The photos were taken from my cell phone, so they're a little faded-looking.

And that's it.

Better make it good, right?

This is the first post on "Skeeziks", my art blog. I will leave it simple:

A charcoal in-class drawing of a plaster hand. From my first semester (Fall 2010) in art school.
