This is my final for figure drawing class - the image I used was a photo by Henri Cartier Bresson. 

Something a little more classical

These were two figure drawings I did for submission to a contest at CCAD. The first, the coal miner, is entitled "Machine" (roughly 30" x 40") and was done with many layers of ink wash, the second, entitled "What Are You Looking At?" (roughly 18" x 22"), was done with ink wash and calligraphy pen.

Had some down time this afternoon on campus so I stopped in a figure drawing class and did some sketches, used pencil, brown micron pen (brand new, very exciting) and watercolor.

Been messing around with this digital painting for a few days now. There might be a little more I'll do to it later, but I wanted to post it since I haven't been putting things up as much this semester. Hope you like it!

Ballet Met Sketches

I just posted these on my cafe sketch blog too, but they were too fun to pass up on posting them here too. We went and sketched during a Ballet Met dance class yesterday and it was kick ass. I think I did something like 29 or 30 sketches in about 90 minutes. It was exhausting. Very worth it though.

This is my most recent homework from my Cafe Sketch class, had to draw people (as best we could) in the middle of making some sort of movement.

Sketchbook stuff

Here is just a couple of sketches/experiments from some time spent my sketchbook last week.

The first is yet another photo from the farmers market.

These two are from trying an exercise I stole from someone else. You paint a random shape with some watercolor and then draw whatever comes to mind over it after it dries.

London Woman from the Interwebs

Found a picture of this interesting woman on the internet and decided to draw her in my sketchbook. I don't know who took it, but I guess it was in London.

Fun with Photoshop/Weekly-ish (I hope) Summer Assignment

I visited a 'character generator' site (http://www.seventhsanctum.com/generate.php?Genname=quickchar ) that I found through Travesty's Beard and decided to try and create character-based artwork on a regular basis over the summer. This piece was done with the generator's suggestion of "a crippled mercenary". I drew the guy in my sketchbook then photoshopped him into a Parisian street scene I grabbed off Google. Then I painted/drew over the scene and just played with some effects. Here it is:

From the Farmers Market

Took some photos at the Worthington Farmers Market today and worked from a few of them in my sketchbook. Used micron pen, then added color pencil.

I hope to work from some more and will add those later. I need a scanner. 

Reader at a Lamp

Another figure drawing post which means another nude! But this one is fairly understated at least. Did it with pen and inkwash in a roughly two-hour class session.

Master Copy

This was an assignment for my figure drawing class. It is a copy of a chalk drawing by Pierre-Paul Brud-hon. This includes my "cheat sheet" with all the little measurements and the original drawing, my full drawing and some details.

A Non-Nude

This is a pen and ink of my wife. The face isn't right, but the posture/torso aren't too bad. Also, scanned it using a new app on my iPhone. Soo geeked about this most recent development.
